USA Cycling announced today the roster of athletes that will represent the U.S. at the 2009 UCI Mountain Bike Marathon World Championships in Stattegg, Austria on August 23rd. The four-person squad will consist of Jeremiah Bishop, Harlan Price, Pua Sawicki, and Heather Holmes, all of whom earned automatic nominations to the team.
American riders dominated opening day of the 2009 UCI BMX World Championships on Thursday, taking seven of the 17 world titles up for grabs. Over 2,000 BMX riders from 32 countries have converged on Adelaide to compete for world titles at the Adelaide Showgrounds. The first day of competition featured challenge class riders age 14 and younger, and the strongest showing of American talent came when Brock Hefron, Collin Hudson, and Damian Ontiveros swept the 12-year-old boys podium.
Attention all road race promoters: Bid applications for the 2010 USA Cycling National Racing Calendar (NRC) are now available for download from the USA Cycling website. Applications are due to USA Cycling by 4:30 p.m. MDT, August 28, 2009, and the final NRC calendar will be announced by the first week of OCtober. Those event promoters whose races are selected for the 2010 NRC will be invited to the second annual NRC promoters meeting which will be held in Colorado Springs in early November.

Following two years of successful events in Louisville, USA Cycling awarded the sports commission an extension on their contract to host the Masters Road National Championships which recently concluded inside Churchill Downs.

The series will consist of USA Cycling branded events at all ABA sanctioned BMX tracks and ABA National Series events. Registration costs $150 and is open until 5:00 pm MST on August 10.
Andrandeacute; Greipel won the third event on the 2009 USA Cycling Professional Tour, the TD Bank Philadelphia International Cycling Championship. With three of eight events on the USA Cycling Pro Tour complete, Levi Leipheimer leads the individual standings while the Team Columbia-High Road squad took over the top spot in the team category. The next event on the USA Cycling Professional Tour will be the USA Cycling Professional Criterium Championships in Downers Grove, Ill. on August 16.

This week, the USA Cycling Junior National Team placed second overall in the team classification at the Trofeo Karlsberg, National Development Team program graduate Tejay Vangarderen stepped into the lead in the Circuito Montanes, and Bjorn Selander placed fifth overall in the Tour de Beauce.
